Since its inception in 1982, Banned Books Week has stood as a powerful reminder of the importance of free and open access to information. Originally launched in response to a surge in challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools, this annual event has become a rallying point for those who believe in the freedom to seek and express ideas.

Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community—librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all kinds—in a shared commitment to uphold the right to read.

At Queen Takes Book, we proudly stand with this movement, embracing the diverse voices and stories that are too often targeted by censorship. Banned Books Week is not just about defending specific titles; it’s about protecting the fundamental right to explore, question, and connect with ideas that reflect the full spectrum of human experience.

By celebrating Banned Books Week, we reaffirm our belief in the power of books to challenge us, inspire us, and bring us closer to understanding one another.
